1. Describe Hideo's personality based on what you know about him so far. How does he show his courage? How does he view his family and his position in it? Use at least one example to support your arguments.

I think that Hideo is allot less worried about whats going on. I think that he is doing very well for traveling on his own for part the journey. I think that Hideo shows courage by taking that job, and going on that long journey with not knowing what could happen.

2. Imagine that you, like the Kawashima family, were suddenly forced to leave your home due to warfare or other tragic circumstances. You only have 10 minutes to throw a few things in your backpack. You are uncertain where you are going and when/if you'll return home, and you know very little about what you'll encounter. What items would YOU bring? Consider some food and non-food items. Be specific and write a short reason (one sentence) with each item to explain why you chose it. Be as realistic as possible. If that happened to me I think that the most important things that I would bring would have to be...

1.) Passport/ Important papers I might need those just in case I need to show indemnification.
2.) At least 2 pairs of clothes If were traveling then I need to change.
3.) Pajamas/ Toothbrush To brush my teeth and so I can sleep better clothes.
4.) Canned foods/Water If were going to be gone we need to eat in that time were gone.
5.) Money We need money for getting something or some where.
6.) Blankets If we don't have a place to stay, we still need to keep our self's warm.

3. Which event do you find most shocking or upsetting so far? Why?

I think that this hole journey that they have to go thought is very shocking and upsetting. But I think that the par t that I really was shocked was when Yoko had to see what would happen to them if they got cot, like when she saw allot of people getting hurt really bad. I think that the hole book starting with the journey allot of things have changed in there lived, like they know that at any moment, what they saw can happen to them.

OP# 1
1.) Describe Yoko's character so far. What kind of person is she? Use at least one example from the text to support your analysis of her character. (3-5 sentences)
I think that when it comes to describe Yoko she is a more worried but, a helpful character in the book. Yoko is also the one that people have trouble getting them to go along with the proble that is going on in there live right now. I think that when her mom yelled out her to get on going in the morning, when they found out they had to go, it really showed what kind of character she begins to act like in this kind of situation.
2. Describe the relationship between Yoko and Ko. Yoko calls her "honorable sister," but also describes her as "bossy." Why? Use an example to support your description of how they feel about each other. (3-5 sentences)
I think that I can really see why Ko was bossy, because Ko neeed to help her mom out, and when you have a sister that just can't really do exactly what you need them to do expestionaly in the kind of situation that there in right now. But them Yoko knows that her sister is only talking, to her that way because of whats going on at that time. So that's why she also says that ko is "honorable sister" because she knows, and understands why her sister was acting that way.3. How does the Kawashima family react to the patients on the train? What does this show you about their character? Use examples to support your statements. (3-5 sentences)I think that she shows alot of moral corige sees those people on the train. I think she is going to be in the book some other time also. I think she trys to not worry the people, but I can see that inside she's really emotionable about the thing that she sees going on the train.

Reading Response
This book is based on a Island girl that has been separated from her father and her tribe. She needs to end up finding a way to live/survive on her, with out her family and, or friends.
Very dangerous things happen where she is from but, she will have to figure out a way to keep her self alive, at least in tell her family returns. She is only twelve-years old on an island with her little brother. In the book a terrible thing happens, her little brother is killed be this group of dogs. But this action that struck her live seems worse at the time but ends up helping her preserver a better Karana. She ends up promising that she will not rest in tell the pack of dogs that killed her brother are died! At the ends she makes friends with the dogs and slowly comes to understand that it's better to live in peace than in war.
I think that this book shows moral courage in the way that Karana learns to be brave and make use into her live even thought that she has lost her family and, her brother was killed. I think that if I had to go through something like that I would of never survived. I think that having to lose your family and having to know that your brother died on that island that your at that exact moment. I dont think that I would want to be karana's friend because she is living a pretty hard live, but overall I think that if I was to be her friend it would have payed of, by because she has learnd so much during this experiance in her live.

RESPONSE: Becoming Naomi Leon

Reading Response
This book is based on a girl named Naomi Leon and she has a little brother named Owen. Her tittle brother is . They live with there Grandma, but they call her Gram and they live in a
Airstream trailer, but they call it “Baby Beluga.” They live in Lemon Tree, California at Avocado Acres Trailer Ranch. So the story starts with Skyla there mother coming to visit and she wants to take Naomi away to live with her and her boyfriend. Both Naomi and Gram don't want that to happen, one of the reasons why, is because Naomi knows that she's alcoholic. Her mom also is trying to prove that she has changed, but they find a box of beer in her trunk.
The book made me kind of sad knowing that her mother has not been so honest. It also makes me sad knowing that Skyla only wants to take Naomi and not Owen just because he looks different, but he turnes out to very smart, Owen has one leg that's shorter than the other.
It also makes me sad that, in the book she ends buying and giving alot of love and atintion to Naomi and not Owen, but one day I thought was really mean of her to was, she got a whole bunch of clothes to Naomi and she bought a bike for Owen, and on the bike she placed a piece of wood on one pedel as if she didn't care.
I think that a person that I would really want to get to know is Naomi because I would like to see what see would of done if she was forced to move to Las Vegas with her alcoholic mom and her no good boyfriend? The book also really got me thinking about, like what if I had to prevent something like that from happening to my live. I think it was nice to she Naomi face that problem and have her "Becoming Naomi Leon" Overall I really injoyed reading this book and I like that I would like to read it again or recommed it to someone else.
